Recommended Travel Adaptor for Libya
We’ve done the legwork, testing adaptors against strict standards. Here you’ll need more than one to stay plugged in, as the sockets vary. The adaptors below are the ones we recommend.
Recommended Travel Plug Adaptor (Type C, F, and L)
Left your adaptor at home? Airports and local shops tend to have them. But having your own is safer, cheaper, and far less stressful.
Libya is commonly visited together with Tunisia and Egypt. Worth checking the adaptor info — plug types and voltage may differ slightly.
Sockets in Libya
The plug types you’ll find in Libya are Type C, D, F, and L plugs and sockets.
Type C
Type C sockets have two round pins and no grounding. Unlike Type G, they take a slimmer plug without an earth pin or fuse.
Type D
Type D sockets have three large round pins in a triangular shape. Unlike Type G, they lack a fuse and the pins are round rather than rectangular.
Type F
Type F sockets have two round pins with two earth clips on the side. UK Type G plugs do not fit into Type F sockets.
Type L
Type L sockets have three round pins in a single straight line. UK Type G plugs do not fit into Type L sockets.
Do You Need a Voltage Converter?
Some of your kit may need a voltage converter in Libya, since the local mains doesn’t line up with Britain’s 230 V.
Before you plug in abroad, make sure to check the voltage label. Devices marked ‘100–240 V, 50/60 Hz’ can handle different voltages, so no converter needed.
Top Travel Essentials to Take With You
A few smart extras can make travelling so much easier. A digital luggage scale saves you from nasty surprises at the airport, a power bank keeps your phone alive when you need it most, and packing cubes stop your suitcase turning into chaos. We’ve tried and tested them ourselves, and they really do make a difference.
