Recommended Travel Adaptor for Switzerland
We tried many adaptors while travelling and checked them against strict criteria. Safety, performance and price were key. The adaptor below came out on top.
Abroad with no adaptor? You’ll find some for sale at airports and in town. Just bear in mind they’re often overpriced and not the best quality.
Switzerland is often visited alongside France and Austria. Plug types are usually compatible, but it’s still a good idea to check.
Sockets in Switzerland
Switzerland uses Type C and J plugs and sockets.
Type C
Type C sockets have two round pins and no grounding. Unlike Type G, they take a slimmer plug without an earth pin or fuse.
Type J
Type J sockets have two round pins and a third round earth pin slightly offset. UK Type G plugs do not fit into Type J sockets.
Do You Need a Voltage Converter?
A voltage converter only helps if the supply is different. In Switzerland the mains voltage lines up with the UK, so there’s no need.
Before you plug in abroad, make sure to check the voltage label. Devices marked ‘100–240 V, 50/60 Hz’ can handle different voltages, so no converter needed.
Top Travel Essentials to Take With You
Travelling light doesn’t mean leaving the essentials behind. A luggage scale is a lifesaver at check-in, a power bank makes sure your gadgets are always ready, and packing cubes keep everything neat and easy to find. We’ve used them on countless trips, and they’ve earned their spot in our bags every time.
